What the Deblock Card is
Account Balance Structure
Deblock Card is a Visa debit card connected to a Deblock euro electronic-money account. Deblock is not merely the app operator: it says it is a direct Visa member, and its current client terms state that Deblock itself issues the card. The same app also contains a self-custodial crypto wallet, but these are two distinct balances with different legal and custody properties.
Card Formats
The card is available in physical and virtual form. Deblock also offers single-use virtual numbers that expire after one transaction. Physical and virtual cards support Apple Pay and Google Pay, and the physical card can be used for ATM withdrawals. Deblock markets several physical designs, including a Standard card, a 21-gram Premium Metal card, an LED Metal card, and artist or NFT designs. Those designs sit alongside the account-plan structure rather than replacing it.
Banking Features
The three account plans are Standard, Premium, and Native. These are genuine plans because they change recurring cost, cashback, foreign-currency pricing, ATM allowances, card quantities, and crypto conversion fees. They are not regional labels. The current fee schedule applies the same three-plan structure across eligible clients.
The account also supplies a personal IBAN, regular and instant SEPA transfers, peer-to-peer payments between Deblock users, card top-ups, and crypto buying, selling, and swapping. This makes Deblock broader than a card-only product. It is best understood as a euro payment account with an attached Visa card and a separate self-custodial wallet.
Card Tiers and Options
The most useful comparison is between the three plans. Card artwork and material can vary inside a plan, so a plan name should not be read as a promise that every physical card uses one particular material.
| Feature | Standard | Premium | Native |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plan price | Free | €14.99 monthly or €120 yearly | Free while a qualifying Deblock NFT has been held in the Deblock wallet for at least 30 days |
| Physical debit cards | One free per year; delivery may cost extra | Three free per year | Three free per year |
| Virtual cards | One | Up to ten | Up to ten |
| Single-use cards | Three in total | Free without a stated quantity cap | Free without a stated quantity cap |
| Card cashback | None | Up to 1% | Up to 1% |
| NFT card customization | Not included | Included | Included |
| Free euro-zone ATM allowance | One withdrawal or €100 per rolling month, whichever comes first | Three withdrawals or €1,000 per rolling month, whichever comes first | Three withdrawals or €1,000 per rolling month, whichever comes first |
| Crypto buy, sell, and swap fee | 1.99% | 0.49% | Free |
| General non-euro card pricing | Free through €1,000 per calendar month, then weekday and weekend markups | Free, subject to special merchant-category pricing | Free, subject to special merchant-category pricing |
Standard
Standard is enough for a user who wants one everyday card, a French IBAN, and occasional foreign-currency spending without a subscription. Its main constraints are the small ATM allowance, one virtual card, only three single-use cards, no cashback, and a 1.99% fee for crypto trades inside Deblock.
Premium
Premium is the conventional paid upgrade. Paying yearly reduces the effective cost to €10 per month, compared with €14.99 on a monthly subscription. The financial case depends on actual use: the plan adds up to 1% cashback, ten virtual cards, unlimited single-use cards, a much larger ATM allowance, lower crypto trading fees, and broader physical-card access. A user should not assume that cashback alone offsets the fee because the publicly disclosed rate is only a maximum.
Native
Native gives the Premium-style fee schedule without a subscription, but it is not free in an economic sense. The qualification asset is a Deblock NFT held in the Deblock wallet for at least 30 days, and the user must retain the NFT to keep access. Official Bursted Bubbles material says the original 1,000-item collection is sold out and can be bought only on secondary markets. NFT prices are volatile, market liquidity can be thin, and Deblock does not guarantee any resale value.
Top-Up Methods
- Fund the euro electronic-money account by SEPA transfer to the personal IBAN
- Top up with an eligible external card in the account holder's name, or with PayPal where supported
- Receive transfers from another Deblock user or use automatic external-card replenishment
- Sell supported crypto from the self-custodial wallet into the euro account before card spending
- External-card and eligible PayPal top-ups share a €2,000 free calendar-month allowance, then cost 0.5%
Self-Custody Hybrid Custody
- Crypto held in the separate Deblock wallet is self-custodial, and the user can export the wallet seed phrase
- Deblock stores an encrypted recovery package but says it cannot decrypt or move wallet assets; recovery uses a separate key delivered through the configured channel
- The Visa card does not spend from that wallet directly: crypto must first be sold and credited as euro electronic money
- Deblock controls the euro account and can delay, restrict, or close the card and fiat balance for compliance, fraud, or legal reasons
Cashback and reward history
Cashback Rates
Standard earns no card cashback. Premium and Native earn “up to 1%” on card payments. Deblock's public product roadmap says cashback is credited to the account at the end of the month, but the current fee schedule does not publish the category table, base rate, eligible merchant list, monthly cap, or exact calculation rules.
That wording matters. “Up to 1%” should not be interpreted as 1% on every purchase. A Deblock feature request posted in January 2025 described the ordinary rate as 0.1% on euro spending and asked Deblock to raise it to 1%; the request is still marked under consideration. The current official fee sheet continues to say only “up to 1%.” The 1% figure is therefore a maximum, not a guaranteed flat return.
Cashback also sits beside merchant-category fees and compliance controls. Transactions involving financial services, stored-value funding, crypto or quasi-cash, gambling, lotteries, precious metals, and jewelry can incur a separate 0.5% card fee. Those categories are poor candidates for assuming a positive net reward even when a transaction technically settles.
BLOCK Reward Program History
Deblock previously made much larger reward promises. Its Q4 2025 $BLOCK whitepaper described a one-billion-token launch on Arbitrum, a Q1 2026 airdrop to existing users, token locking for higher levels, fee discounts, referral incentives, and card cashback of up to 10% paid in $BLOCK. Sixty percent of the proposed supply was assigned to rewards.
On March 11, 2026, Deblock cancelled the token launch indefinitely. Deblock said it had listened to users who felt a token generation event departed from the company's core mission, and cited volatility, listing and liquidity costs, and product focus. It also acknowledged that users had accumulated points and promised a replacement compensation and rewards structure.
No current public Deblock source reviewed for this report identifies a delivered conversion rate, claim process, cash value, or replacement benefit for those points. The proposed token, staking levels, airdrop, and 10% cashback therefore must not appear as live card benefits. The only current card reward that can be represented is the separate plan-based cashback of up to 1%.
The Native NFT benefit did survive. A qualifying Deblock NFT held for 30 days still unlocks the Native plan, and current terms continue to state that utility. That is a plan-access benefit, not evidence that the NFT has a guaranteed financial value.
Fees and limits
Plan and Card Fees
Deblock's current fee sheet applies from July 5, 2026. Euro merchant purchases are free on all three plans, except for a 0.5% fee on specified merchant categories. SEPA transfers, instant SEPA transfers, incoming transfers, peer-to-peer payments, and Apple Pay or Google Pay use are free.

| ATM after free allowance | 1%, minimum €1 | 1%, minimum €1 | 1%, minimum €1 |
| Card or eligible PayPal top-up | First €2,000 per calendar month free, then 0.5% | Same | Same |
| Account-funding transaction | One free per rolling month, then €1 plus 2% | One or €1,000 free per rolling month, then €1 plus 1% | One or €1,000 free per rolling month, then 1% |
| Crypto buy, sell, or swap | 1.99% | 0.49% | 0% |
Account-Funding Fees
An account-funding transaction is a card payment used to load another bank, e-money, prepaid, or stored-value account. It is not the same as topping up Deblock from an external card. This distinction is easy to miss and can make wallet-to-wallet or fintech funding more expensive than an ordinary purchase.
Merchant Category Fees
The 0.5% special merchant-category fee applies even to euro payments. The published categories include financial institutions, money transfers, remittances, stored-value loading, crypto and quasi-cash services, gambling, government lotteries, precious metals, and jewelry. Merchant coding is controlled by the merchant or acquirer, so a transaction may receive a fee based on its assigned code rather than what the user believes was purchased.
Spending and ATM Limits
Deblock's card page markets no spending cap and no foreign-exchange surcharge. The binding fee sheet is narrower: Standard has a €1,000 monthly free non-euro allowance, and all plans retain special merchant-category pricing. Deblock also keeps authorization, account, and compliance limits in the app. Because the public pricing page presents €15,000 and €30,000 values under an unclear ATM-limit label, this report does not repurpose those figures as verified daily or monthly purchase limits.
ATM operators may add their own fee or offer dynamic currency conversion. The free Deblock allowance counts by both number and value: reaching either threshold ends the waiver for that rolling month. Standard therefore does not receive both one free withdrawal and an additional €100 of free withdrawals.
How card spending works
Crypto-to-Fiat Conversion
Every Deblock card is tied to the Deblock current account. The card authorizes against the electronic-money balance, not against tokens in the self-custodial wallet. A user who holds BTC, ETH, SOL, USDC, or another supported crypto asset must first execute an off-ramp. Deblock and its liquidity providers sell the selected crypto, and Deblock credits euro electronic money to the account. Only that fiat balance is available to the card.
This design avoids an automatic crypto sale at every checkout, so the payment amount is predictable once euros are available. It also means Deblock Card is not a direct self-custodial spending card. Conversion is a separate, user-approved transaction and can cost 1.99% on Standard, 0.49% on Premium, or 0% on Native before any network, market-price, or card fee that may apply.
EUR Account Funding
The euro account can be funded through SEPA transfers using the personal IBAN, an external card in the account holder's name issued by an EU or UK financial institution, supported PayPal top-ups in eligible countries, payments from another Deblock user, or crypto off-ramping. External-card auto-add can replenish the electronic-money balance when it falls below a chosen threshold. Card and eligible PayPal top-ups are free through a combined published allowance of €2,000 per calendar month and cost 0.5% after that.
Deblock currently provides only a euro card-spending path in its public card and fee documentation. The wider app may display crypto assets or other account features, but those holdings should not be counted as currencies that directly fund a card authorization.
Availability and verification
Applicant Countries
Current Deblock client terms require the applicant to be at least 18 and legally resident in the European Economic Area. That covers the 27 European Union countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway. Switzerland and the United Kingdom are not EEA countries and are not included in the current applicant list.
KYC Requirements
The onboarding process is full KYC. Deblock asks for email and phone verification, identity-document capture, a video selfie, residential address, occupation, account purpose, citizenship, and information about source of funds. The terms describe accepted identity documents and allow Deblock to request further information after onboarding, particularly when activity changes.
Usage and Compliance Restrictions
The account is personal only. It cannot be used for a business, for another person, or primarily as a pass-through route between the user's other accounts or payment methods. Deblock specifically identifies repeated “round trip” movements and unreasonable, abusive, professional, or suspicious crypto-linked flows as activity that can lead to restrictions, penalties, or closure.
Deblock can refuse or delay a payment, request supporting documents, suspend the electronic-money account, or terminate the relationship for legal, compliance, fraud, card-network, or terms-related reasons. These controls apply to the current account and card even though Deblock cannot move crypto that remains in the separate self-custodial wallet.
Custody, issuer, and account protection
Card Issuer
Deblock SAS is the card issuer and a direct Visa member. France's REGAFI register lists Deblock as an electronic-money institution under CIB 17748, and the AMF lists Deblock as a licensed crypto-asset service provider under A2025-001 for crypto-to-fiat exchange, crypto-to-crypto exchange, and order execution.
Fiat Account Custody
The electronic-money account is custodial in practical terms. Deblock issues the balance, authorizes card spending, can place holds or restrictions, and can close the account. Client money is safeguarded in segregated bank accounts under electronic-money rules. Safeguarding gives customers priority over ordinary creditors after insolvency costs, but it is not a bank-deposit guarantee and access may depend on an insolvency practitioner if Deblock fails.
Crypto Wallet Custody
The crypto wallet is different. Current terms say the user alone has access to the private keys and Deblock cannot move the wallet assets. The self-custody page says the seed phrase can be exported and imported into a compatible wallet even if Deblock disappears. Deblock's recovery design encrypts the seed into a recovery package and separates it from an encryption key distributed through the user's email, cloud account, and a trusted escrow. Deblock says it sees only the encrypted package.
Custody Score
This makes the overall product Hybrid Custody, with a custody score of 3.5 out of 5. Self-custodied crypto remains under user control, but card spending crosses a deliberate boundary: crypto must be sold into a Deblock-controlled, safeguarded electronic-money account. Deblock and Visa can block the card path, and Deblock can restrict or close the fiat account. A rating of 5.0 would incorrectly describe the spending balance as fully self-custodial.
Optional yield features should be assessed separately. Deblock advertises variable onchain yield through vaults facilitated by Techblock Ltd. That is not interest paid on the safeguarded card balance and introduces smart-contract, stablecoin, liquidity, and DeFi risks beyond ordinary card use.
User experience and reported problems
Positive User Feedback
The app has strong headline ratings: Google Play shows 4.7 from about 29,000 reviews and more than 500,000 downloads, while regional Apple App Store ratings are also high. Positive reviewers repeatedly mention straightforward onboarding, a clean interface, fast transfers, quick virtual-card access, and the convenience of combining a euro account and crypto wallet.
Account-Block and Support Complaints
The negative pattern is material, not an isolated complaint. Google Play, Apple, and Trustpilot all contain reports of account blocks after transfers, delayed or inaccessible funds, card delivery or payment problems, crypto transactions remaining pending, and difficulty reaching a human rather than an automated response. Trustpilot shows a 4.2 score from more than 3,500 reviews, but 20% of reviews are one-star at the time of review.
Several 2026 Trustpilot reviewers say Deblock closed or suspended accounts after incoming transfers or crypto activity, held remaining fiat funds for a period, and supplied only generic regulatory explanations. Deblock's public replies say closures follow internal review and legal obligations, and that individual cases cannot be discussed publicly. Those replies do not let an outside reviewer determine whether any one complaint was justified, but the repeated pattern supports a practical warning: do not depend on Deblock as the only place for rent money or emergency fiat, and keep source-of-funds records ready.
App Reliability and Service Status
Other complaints concern technical reliability and support speed rather than permanent closure. Recent app reviews describe intermittent access errors, slow human assistance, pending crypto purchases, declined card payments, and physical-card delivery delays. Deblock's public status page currently shows card payments, orders, management, top-ups, transfers, crypto operations, account creation, and live chat as operational. Current operational status does not erase the user-reported history.
The self-custodial wallet reduces one consequence of an account dispute: Deblock says it cannot freeze or move crypto that remains in the wallet, and an exported seed provides an exit route. That protection does not extend to euros already off-ramped into the card balance, pending conversions, the Visa card, or any service that requires the Deblock app and regulated account.
Best suited for
- EEA residents who want a euro account and crypto wallet in one app and understand that the Visa spends fiat rather than crypto directly.
- Frequent travelers on Premium or Native who can use the larger ATM allowance and avoid Standard's non-euro markup after €1,000 per month.
- Existing Deblock NFT holders who can unlock Native without paying the Premium subscription and will actually use the lower crypto fees.
- Users who value wallet exit control and are willing to export or secure a seed phrase while keeping a separate backup payment account.
Deblock is less suitable for someone seeking a direct self-custodial crypto-spending card, guaranteed 1% cashback, bank-deposit insurance, or a single primary account with no tolerance for compliance holds. Premium is also hard to justify for light card use unless its lower crypto fees and higher card or ATM allowances offset the subscription.
Pros and cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| ✅ Deblock directly issues the Visa and provides a personal EEA IBAN | ❌ The card spends custodial electronic money, not crypto from the self-custodial wallet |
| ✅ Standard has no recurring fee, and euro payments plus SEPA transfers are generally free | ❌ Standard charges 1.99% for crypto conversion and adds non-euro markups after €1,000 monthly |
| ✅ Premium and Native add up to 1% cashback, more virtual cards, and larger ATM allowances | ❌ The public cashback disclosure gives only a maximum and omits the full rate matrix and cap |
| ✅ Crypto keys and seed export remain under user control if Deblock becomes unavailable | ❌ Fiat, card access, off-ramping, and pending activity remain subject to Deblock compliance controls |
| ✅ Native can remove subscription and crypto-trading fees for qualifying NFT holders | ❌ Native depends on a volatile NFT held for 30 days, with no guaranteed market value or liquidity |
| ✅ Current app ratings praise speed, interface quality, and account-wallet integration | ❌ Repeated recent reviews report closures, frozen fiat, delivery problems, and generic support |
Conclusion
Deblock Card is one of the more coherent European combinations of a current account, Visa debit card, and self-custodial crypto wallet. Deblock issues the card itself, the Standard plan is inexpensive to test, and Premium or Native can be useful for heavier foreign-currency, ATM, virtual-card, or crypto activity.
Its strongest security benefit applies to crypto that remains in the wallet, not to the card balance. Card spending requires a separate sale into safeguarded electronic money, so the correct custody description is Hybrid Custody rather than fully self-custodial. Users should also price the plan using the actual maximum cashback disclosure, the crypto conversion fee, special merchant-category charges, and the economic cost of a qualifying NFT.
The product is most compelling for an EEA user who wants a French IBAN and an exportable crypto wallet in the same app while keeping another bank account available. It is not a good fit for anyone who expects old $BLOCK promises to become current rewards, needs guaranteed uninterrupted access to fiat, or wants to spend onchain assets without crossing a custodial settlement boundary.
