What Fiat24 Card Is
Product Identity
Fiat24 Card is a virtual Mastercard issued by Swiss financial institution SR Saphirstein AG. It sits inside Fiat24's browser-based payment application and spends from a multi-currency account with a personal Swiss IBAN. The account can hold tokenized EUR, USD, CHF, and offshore renminbi balances, shown onchain as EUR24, USD24, CHF24, and CNH24.
The product is unusual because its login credential is an ERC-721 account NFT held in the customer's own Arbitrum wallet. The NFT number also maps to the Fiat24 account number and Swiss IBAN. Account balances are represented by restricted ERC-20 cash tokens in the same wallet, and the wallet key signs access, transfers, exchanges, and other account actions.
This is still a regulated payment account rather than a permissionless stablecoin wallet. Fiat24 performs identity checks, holds or safeguards the underlying money, issues and administers the cash tokens, authorizes Mastercard transactions, and can restrict the account. The onchain ledger makes balances and account status more portable and observable, but it does not remove the issuer from the payment flow.
Account, Wallet and Card Relationship
The Mastercard does not spend every crypto asset in the connected wallet. A customer first converts supported crypto or deposits bank money into a Fiat24 cash-token balance. The card then draws from those fiat balances according to the customer's Direct Pay and default-currency settings.
The account NFT acts as the access credential. Holding it lets the registered customer open Fiat24 through the official site or a compatible wallet integration. The cash tokens represent the recorded account balance. The Mastercard is a separate payment instrument attached to that account and remains subject to Fiat24's authorization, merchant, compliance, and risk rules.
That separation matters during both normal use and outages. Crypto that has not been converted into Fiat24 cash tokens remains outside the card balance. A problem with the Mastercard does not automatically prevent a user from controlling unrelated wallet assets. Conversely, possessing EUR24 or USD24 does not guarantee that Fiat24 will authorize a card payment or bank payout while the account is restricted.
Virtual Mastercard Format
Fiat24 currently issues virtual cards only. The user guide says the card has no PIN, which rules out ordinary chip-and-PIN use and makes cash-machine access unsuitable. Contactless purchases are handled through supported digital wallets rather than a physical Fiat24 card.
Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay are explicitly supported, and Fiat24 says most other digital wallets can be used. The card also supports online purchases and email-based one-time passwords for 3-D Secure challenges. Digital-wallet availability can still vary by device, country, and wallet provider.
Fiat24's user guide says cards are valid for five years and can renew automatically if used during the preceding six months. The controlling card terms instead say a new virtual card is not issued automatically at expiry and requires a fresh application. The safer expectation is that renewal is not guaranteed and that Fiat24 can refuse a replacement if the customer no longer meets its requirements.
Card Levels and Account NFTs
Standard
Standard covers five- to eight-digit account NFTs and is the default consumer level. Fiat24 offers a randomly generated eight-digit NFT without an account-number charge. A chosen five- or six-digit number costs 1 F24 plus Arbitrum gas. Both routes lead to the same Standard card limits and 1% crypto top-up fee.
The published Standard card limit is 10,000 EUR per day and 20,000 EUR per month. The wider Standard account has a separate rolling 30-day transaction limit of up to 100,000 USD for a normal low-risk customer. Card spending and total account activity therefore use different ceilings, and Fiat24 can assign lower risk-based limits.
Standard customers receive the Swiss IBAN, all four currency balances, the virtual Mastercard, internal transfers, bank deposits and payouts, and currency exchange. Since January 2025, a Standard individual generally cannot receive third-party EUR or CHF bank deposits except from Fiat24's verified-platform list. Self-funded transfers remain allowed subject to the published deposit rules.
Premium
Premium is tied to a four-digit account NFT. Upgrading requires burning 1,500 F24, after which Fiat24 says the account update normally completes within one business day. The burned tokens are not a refundable deposit or a temporary stake; they are consumed to obtain the shorter account number and Premium status.
Premium raises the card limit to 100,000 EUR per day and 200,000 EUR per month. The broader account limit rises to 1,000,000 USD on a rolling 30-day basis, subject to the individual risk limit actually assigned. Its crypto top-up fee falls from 1% to 0.5%.
Premium also retains access to third-party bank deposits that meet Fiat24's rules, unlike the default Standard restriction introduced in 2025. That can matter to users receiving funds from a company or another person, but it does not make every third-party transfer acceptable. Name, address, bank, country, fraud, sanctions, and source-of-funds checks still apply.
Ultimate
Ultimate is the three-digit account-NFT level. It requires burning 15,000 F24. Fiat24's current homepage quotes F24 at 0.01 ETH, so the issuer's direct quote would make the token requirement equivalent to 150 ETH before gas. The ETH cost can move with both Fiat24's quote and ETH's market price, and secondary-market liquidity should not be assumed.
The card limit rises to 500,000 EUR per day and 1,000,000 EUR per month. The wider rolling account limit is published as 10,000,000 USD, again subject to customer-specific risk decisions. The crypto top-up fee falls to 0.25%.
Ultimate is a genuinely different account and card level, but it does not add card-purchase cashback, lounge access, insurance, or a physical card. Its value is concentrated in higher limits, the lower crypto-conversion charge, the short account number, and Premium-style access to permitted third-party bank deposits.
Comparing the Three Levels
| Level | Account NFT | One-time NFT cost | Card limit | Crypto top-up fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 5–8 digits | Free random 8-digit number or 1 F24 for a chosen 5–6-digit number | 10,000 EUR/day; 20,000 EUR/month | 1% |
| Premium | 4 digits | Burn 1,500 F24 | 100,000 EUR/day; 200,000 EUR/month | 0.5% |
| Ultimate | 3 digits | Burn 15,000 F24 | 500,000 EUR/day; 1,000,000 EUR/month | 0.25% |
The lower top-up percentage should be evaluated against the irreversible upgrade cost. Saving 0.5 percentage points by moving from Standard to Premium would require very large top-up volume before recovering 1,500 F24, even before considering token and ETH price risk. Ultimate is still more specialized. The short NFT and account limits may matter to a business owner or very high-volume user, but they are not ordinary card rewards.
Fees and Limits
Published Account and Card Costs
Fiat24's individual pricing page concentrates on the NFT cost, account limit, card type, and crypto top-up percentage. It does not publish a comprehensive consumer card fee schedule covering issuance, recurring card access, replacement, refunds, disputes, or inactivity. The card terms also reserve the ability to apply operation and conversion fees without giving a complete numeric table.
A Standard account can start with a free random eight-digit NFT, while chosen shorter Standard numbers cost 1 F24. Premium and Ultimate consume 1,500 and 15,000 F24. Arbitrum gas can apply to NFT minting, upgrades, token approvals, exchanges, and cash-token transfers.
Fiat24 explicitly says it does not charge extra for adding the card to a digital wallet or using that wallet. Apple, Google, Samsung, or another wallet provider can impose separate terms or charges. The absence of a Fiat24 mobile-wallet fee does not establish that every underlying card operation is free.
Crypto Top-Up Fees
Crypto top-up converts supported crypto into a Fiat24 cash-token balance. The fee is 1% for Standard, 0.5% for Premium, and 0.25% for Ultimate. Fiat24's developer documentation shows a 5 USD minimum and 50,000 USD maximum per smart-contract top-up, while the overall rolling account limit can impose an additional ceiling.
The standard integration converts other assets into official USDC on Arbitrum before minting the selected Fiat24 cash token. A wallet provider can hide those intermediate steps, but the economic path still includes any decentralized-exchange spread, bridge cost, provider charge, and Arbitrum gas before Fiat24's percentage fee.
Crypto top-up can be unavailable when the account is blocked, its rolling limit is exhausted, or the user is physically in a jurisdiction where Fiat24 disables crypto conversion. The quote shown before signing is more useful than the headline percentage because it captures the chosen asset, route, rate, and gas at that moment.
Currency Exchange and Card Conversion
Fiat24 calls account-to-account currency exchange free, meaning it lists no separate service fee. Its public rate API nevertheless exposes distinct bid, mid, and ask values, so the conversion price can contain a spread even when the line-item fee is zero. Users should compare the amount sold and received rather than reading “free” as mid-market conversion.
For card purchases, matching-currency Direct Pay is the clearest way to limit extra conversion. A EUR purchase uses EUR24 first when that balance is enabled and sufficient; the same applies to USD24, CHF24, and CNH24. If the matching balance cannot cover the full purchase, Fiat24 does not split the payment across balances. It converts the transaction into the selected default card currency and debits that balance.
Fiat24 does not publish one universal percentage for this card conversion in its direct current documentation. A precise FX fee therefore cannot be assumed from a co-branded wallet's separate schedule. The customer should inspect the live conversion and settlement amounts, particularly for currencies outside EUR, USD, CHF, and CNH.
Bank Transfer Costs
Successful EUR and CHF bank deposits are listed as free and normally credit within one or two business days. A rejected incoming transfer is returned with a 10 EUR or 10 CHF charge. Standard individual deposits generally need to come from the account holder or one of Fiat24's named verified platforms; Premium and business accounts can receive permitted third-party deposits.
Successful EUR and CHF payouts are also listed as free. The minimum payout is 100 EUR or 100 CHF, and a customer must first make a small deposit from the destination account so Fiat24 can register it. If the receiving bank returns the payout, Fiat24 charges 10 EUR or 10 CHF and handles the return manually.
Correspondent, originating, intermediary, receiving-bank, and platform fees can still apply outside Fiat24. An independent reviewer reported a small euro transfer being routed through TARGET2 and incurring substantial third-party charges, although one report cannot establish how often that happens. Users should confirm the rail and beneficiary deductions before sending time-sensitive or low-value transfers.
Card and Account Limits
Card limits and total account limits are separate. Standard, Premium, and Ultimate card ceilings are 20,000, 200,000, and 1,000,000 EUR per month, with daily limits of 10,000, 100,000, and 500,000 EUR. The broader account limits are published in USD and cover rolling 30-day transaction volume across services.
Fiat24 can assign risk-based limits below the marketing maximum. Its country API also distinguishes eighteen lower-limit account jurisdictions that currently receive account access but no Mastercard access; documentation describes a 1,000 CHF rolling limit for some emerging-country accounts. Those account-only locations should not be described as card countries.
The virtual card has no published ATM allowance because it has no physical format or PIN. Merchant limits, account status, available currency balance, compliance checks, and Mastercard controls can all cause a payment below the headline limit to fail.
Funding and Currency Handling
Bank Funding
Fiat24 supplies a Swiss IBAN whose ending digits correspond to the account NFT. The current consumer documentation supports EUR and CHF bank deposits and payouts. Deposits usually credit within one or two business days, and payouts submitted before 15:00 CET on a business day are generally sent the same day.
Incoming details must match the registered account. Fiat24 checks the payee and payer name, address, postal code, country, bank country, account status, and fraud history. A technically successful transfer can still be rejected if the details are incomplete, inconsistent, or associated with a restricted location.
Since January 2025, a Standard individual can receive third-party funds only from specified platforms such as Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Coinbase, Kraken, Bitpanda, Bitstamp, Binance, Trading 212, Monet Labs, and Twint. The list can change, and inclusion does not guarantee that every transfer from the platform will pass.
Crypto Funding
Fiat24's current developer architecture standardizes crypto top-up through official USDC on Arbitrum. A user or integrated wallet can first swap or bridge another asset into USDC, approve the Fiat24 contract, and convert it into EUR24, USD24, or CHF24. The consumer interface can offer more input assets, but they pass through the supported conversion route rather than becoming direct card balances.
The connected wallet must hold the account NFT and the asset used for the top-up. Fiat24 says the conversion completes within seconds after sufficient blockchain confirmation. Network congestion, bridge delays, decentralized-exchange liquidity, or a wrong token/network choice can still interrupt the path.
Cash tokens have two decimals and can move between eligible Fiat24 accounts by NFT number or Arbitrum address. Transfers are subject to account status and rolling limits. Sending a cash token to an ordinary address without a live Fiat24 account does not create an unrestricted bearer claim; non-client balances and service access are constrained by Fiat24's rules.
Direct Pay and Default Currency
Each cardholder can enable Direct Pay independently for EUR, USD, CHF, and CNH. A purchase in one of those currencies first uses the matching enabled balance. This is the card's strongest practical multi-currency feature because the user can decide which balances should be eligible for direct settlement.
The default card currency acts as the fallback. If a purchase currency is unsupported or the matching balance cannot cover the entire amount, Fiat24 converts and charges the default balance. It does not combine two partially funded balances to rescue the transaction.
Refunds follow a similar currency rule. A refund for an original EUR, USD, CHF, or RMB transaction returns to that matching balance. Refunds for other currencies are converted into the default currency. Fiat24 says ordinary refunds usually arrive within seven days and cross-border refunds can take up to thirty days.
Availability and Application
Current Onboarding Status
Fiat24's public homepage currently displays a maintenance notice stating that new applications are not being accepted. Existing documentation, smart contracts, country APIs, support routes, account services, and Mastercard terms remain live, so this is not evidence that existing accounts or cards have been discontinued.
The card is therefore limited: it remains an operating product for existing approved customers, but a new applicant should not assume immediate onboarding. The pause may be temporary, and Fiat24 does not publish an end date. Users should check the official application rather than buying F24 or preparing a premium NFT in anticipation of access.
This status applies to direct Fiat24 onboarding. A co-branded wallet that uses Fiat24 may have a separate application route, card format, fee schedule, and account-level structure. A SafePal, Bitget Wallet, or other partner card should not be treated as an interchangeable way to obtain the direct Fiat24 card.
Card Countries
Fiat24's current public country API lists 42 Mastercard domiciles: Åland Islands, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Réunion, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Svalbard and Jan Mayen, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom.
The same API lists eighteen additional low-limit account domiciles without Mastercard eligibility. Account access in Andorra, Argentina, Armenia, Bangladesh, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Indonesia, Mexico, North Macedonia, Peru, San Marino, Thailand, Turkey, or Uruguay should therefore not be presented as card availability.
Country inclusion remains subject to the maintenance pause, nationality, sanctions, document, GPS, risk, and prior-account checks. A Mastercard can be used at merchants outside its applicant countries, but worldwide acceptance does not broaden who can obtain it.
Identity and Account Requirements
An individual applicant must be over eighteen, live in an eligible country, hold a supported biometric passport or identity document, complete GPS capture during registration, and pass Fiat24's KYC and risk review. US persons are excluded, as are nationals of Iran, North Korea, and Russia. Sanctioned individuals, politically exposed persons, and applicants outside Fiat24's risk appetite can also be refused.
Fiat24 applies a strict one-account policy. Its user guide says a person who closes an account cannot open another one later. This is especially important because several wallet brands use Fiat24 infrastructure. An existing co-branded Fiat24 relationship can prevent a separate direct application or another partner-branded account.
Fiat24 can request source-of-funds, source-of-wealth, counterparty, transaction-purpose, or other compliance information after onboarding. Failure to provide acceptable information can lead to restricted transfers, card blocking, a forced payout, or account closure.
Merchant Restrictions
The Mastercard is designed for ordinary goods and services, but Fiat24 publishes a broad restricted-merchant list. It blocks sanctioned countries and entities, automated fuel dispensers, money-transfer and quasi-cash merchants, customer financial institutions, brokers and dealers, gambling and lotteries, charities, civic or fraternal associations, political organizations, and religious organizations.
Public transport, utility bills, inflight shopping, and some other payments can be limited in certain countries. In the United States, Fiat24 also flags fine-dining transactions where gratuity is paid separately. Subscription, app-store, or digital-content acceptance is not guaranteed merely because the merchant accepts Mastercard.
These rules make the card less suitable for financial transfers, investment funding, gaming, donations, or travel deposits than its high nominal limits suggest. Hotels, rentals, and other preauthorization-heavy merchants also deserve caution because independent complaints have focused on delayed hold releases and refunds.
Issuer, Regulation and Custody
Issuer and Network
SR Saphirstein AG is the actual account and card issuer. It operates under the Fiat24 brand, appears in FINMA's current list of Article 1b institutions, and identifies a Mastercard BIN beginning 5481 0849. Mastercard supplies the payment network but does not hold the Fiat24 balance or decide account eligibility.
Fiat24 is also the issuer of EUR24, USD24, CHF24, and CNH24. It records account status in the account NFT, books cash-token balances on Arbitrum, and supplies the offchain services needed for bank transfers, identity records, compliance, card authorization, and customer support.
Partner wallets can embed Fiat24 and receive a commission on crypto conversions, but that does not make the wallet provider the direct card issuer. The direct Fiat24 Card should be evaluated under SR Saphirstein's terms and pricing rather than a partner's separate promotional page.
Swiss Fintech License
SR Saphirstein holds a Swiss fintech license under Article 1b of the Banking Act and is supervised by FINMA. This license allows an institution to accept up to 100 million CHF in public deposits or crypto-based assets, provided it does not invest the accepted assets or pay interest on them.
The license is not a full Swiss banking license. FINMA applies regulatory, audit, capital, organization, risk, and disclosure requirements, but it explicitly distinguishes Article 1b institutions from banks. Calling Fiat24 a regulated Swiss financial institution is accurate; calling it a fully licensed bank would overstate the authorization.
Supervision reduces some governance uncertainty but does not guarantee individual card authorizations, refunds, token redemption, transfer timing, or uninterrupted access. Fiat24 can still experience operational problems, and FINMA does not provide customer service for ordinary card disputes.
Deposit Protection
Fiat24 customer deposits are not protected by the Swiss deposit insurance scheme. FINMA also says assets at an Article 1b institution are neither privileged nor protected in the institution's bankruptcy. The one-to-one cash-token claim therefore depends on Fiat24's safeguarding, records, operations, and solvency.
This makes the account better suited to transactional money than long-term savings. A customer can keep unrelated crypto in a separate wallet and convert only the amount intended for near-term payments. Premium or Ultimate limits do not add deposit insurance.
The cash tokens should not be treated as ordinary permissionless stablecoins merely because they use ERC-20 contracts. Fiat24 is the regulated issuer and controls who can use its services, whether an account is live, and how the fiat claim exits through a bank transfer or card settlement.
Custody Assessment
Fiat24 uses hybrid custody. The user controls the private key to the wallet holding the account NFT and cash tokens. That key can access Fiat24 through compatible interfaces and can sign supported token transfers. Fiat24 says the tokens are not held inside its web application, and the user is responsible for wallet security.
Fiat24 retains equally important control. It holds or safeguards the underlying fiat, administers the cash-token contracts, assigns account status, authorizes every Mastercard transaction, restricts recipients and services, processes bank redemption, and can soft-block or hard-block an account. It can also restore access after identity verification if a wallet is lost.
A custody rating of 4.0 reflects real user-key control without calling the spend balance fully self-custodial. The decisive test is whether the key holder can always spend or redeem the balance without issuer permission. A soft-blocked user can receive but not send or spend, while a hard-blocked user can do neither. Onchain possession therefore does not eliminate issuer intervention.
Wallet Loss and Recovery
If the wallet or private key is lost, Fiat24 instructs the customer to contact official support immediately. Fiat24 verifies identity and can restore the account, potentially for a processing fee. This recovery can be valuable compared with an irreversible ordinary wallet loss.
The same mechanism proves that the account is not controlled exclusively by the current NFT holder. Fiat24 can associate the verified legal customer with the onchain account, change status, and intervene when the credential is compromised. Users should not transfer the account NFT to another person or assume that selling it transfers the regulated account relationship.
Recovery depends on reaching support and satisfying Fiat24's checks. Independent complaints about slow or unavailable support mean users should preserve account numbers, registered contact details, transaction hashes, card records, and identity evidence without ever disclosing a seed phrase or private key.
Security, Refunds and Restrictions
Wallet and Smart-Contract Security
The account NFT changes the threat model from a normal password-only banking app. A malicious signature, compromised seed phrase, or unsafe WalletConnect session can expose the credential and cash tokens. A hardware wallet can protect signing keys, but it cannot prevent Fiat24 from declining a card payment or restricting an account.
Users should verify the official Fiat24 domain, Arbitrum network, contract addresses, approval amounts, and transaction destination before signing. A crypto top-up gives the conversion contract access to the selected token, so unlimited approvals should be reviewed and revoked when unnecessary.
Fiat24 publishes its contract addresses and developer methods, which improves technical transparency. Public code and visible transactions are not the same as a current independent security audit. Users should avoid placing all liquid assets in the same hot wallet used for frequent application connections.
Card Controls and Authentication
The virtual card is activated from the Fiat24 interface after the customer holds the minimum balance: 10 EUR for a Eurozone registration, 10 CHF for Switzerland, or 10 USD elsewhere. All verified eligible users can request the card without a separate credit application, subject to the current onboarding pause.
Online purchases can trigger a one-time password sent to the registered email under 3-D Secure. Digital wallets add device authentication. Fiat24 can also decline a payment based on insufficient balance, account status, merchant category, sanctions, fraud signals, limits, or other legal and contractual grounds.
Protecting the wallet alone is therefore insufficient. The registered email, phone, device, and digital-wallet account also need strong security. A lost email can become an account-access problem; one recent independent reviewer said a lost email led to unresolved support and account-closure requests.
Refunds and Preauthorizations
Fiat24 says domestic or ordinary refunds usually arrive within seven days, while cross-border cases can take up to thirty. Matching-currency refunds return to EUR24, USD24, CHF24, or CNH24, and other refunds are converted into the default currency.
Several recent independent reviews allege much longer waits for refunds or released preauthorization holds, especially for hotels, rentals, and other deposit-style merchants. The sample is too small to estimate failure rates, and the claims are not independently verified. They are still relevant because multiple reviewers describe the same combination of delayed funds and difficult support.
Customers should preserve the original authorization, final settlement, merchant cancellation, released-hold confirmation, refund amount, currency, and transaction hash. The merchant should release a normal hold first; Fiat24 controls the card ledger and is the party that must investigate a missing issuer-side credit.
Disputes and Liability
The card terms require unauthorized or incorrectly executed transactions to be reported without undue delay. They describe customer liability of up to 50 CHF before notification in ordinary cases, with broader liability possible for fraud, gross negligence, or failure to protect credentials and report promptly.
The general account terms use a two-month reporting boundary for some unauthorized or incorrect payment claims. Customers should not wait for the outer deadline. Blocking the card, securing the wallet and email, contacting the merchant, and opening a written Fiat24 case immediately creates a stronger record.
Fiat24 directs users to support through its web application, homepage, and embedded Telegram bot. Telegram and Discord impersonation are recurring themes in independent complaints. No legitimate support agent needs the seed phrase, private key, or a signature on an unfamiliar recovery page.
Rewards and Product History
No Current Purchase Cashback
Fiat24 does not publish recurring card-purchase cashback, points, miles, yield, lounge access, or card insurance for Standard, Premium, or Ultimate. The higher levels reduce crypto top-up charges and raise limits; those are service differences rather than rewards on merchant spend.
The lack of cashback makes the paid upgrades easier to evaluate. Premium and Ultimate are not reward ladders where a high percentage can recover the upfront token burn. A user should value the required limits, permitted third-party deposits, and lower top-up fee directly.
Former referral campaigns offering ARB tokens should not be treated as a current evergreen card benefit. Independent promotional posts from early 2024 describe 5 or 10 ARB for KYC, funding, and card spending plus larger referral rewards. No current direct Fiat24 referral offer with those terms is published.
F24 Token Promise and Utility
Fiat24 describes F24 as an ecosystem reward and utility token with a maximum supply of 100 million. Its current practical use is paying for preferred account NFTs and upgrades. Tokens used for these services are burned rather than held as a refundable stake.
The token page originally framed the deflationary burn as a mechanism that could increase demand and push up market value while rewarding early adopters and helping the company. That is a promotional economic thesis, not a guaranteed return. Fiat24 reserved 30% of supply for company financing and published a four-year vesting schedule for team and early-investor allocations ending in June 2026.
What users can currently claim is the account utility bought by burning F24: a chosen shorter number, Premium, Ultimate, or other account access. They do not receive equity, deposit interest, card cashback, or repayment of the burned tokens. Public market trackers show very limited observable F24 liquidity, so an advertised token quantity should not be converted into a dependable cash value.
Network and Product Changes
Fiat24 began with a virtual Visa and has since moved its direct current card documentation to Mastercard. Older articles, referral posts, and wallet integrations can still mention Visa. They show product history rather than the network a new or renewed direct card should receive.
The product has also expanded beyond its original European focus. Fiat24's current country API includes selected Asian, Pacific, North American, and territorial domiciles, while separating account-only lower-limit countries from Mastercard countries.
The January 2025 third-party-deposit restriction materially narrowed Standard account use. Standard customers can now receive bank transfers from themselves or selected verified platforms, while Premium retains broader permitted third-party deposits. This change increases the practical value of Premium for some users but should not be confused with a card reward.
User Experience
Setup and Daily Use
When onboarding is open, setup requires more crypto familiarity than a conventional banking app. The user connects an Arbitrum-compatible wallet, selects or mints an account NFT, permits GPS capture, answers risk questions, completes biometric identity verification, and waits for the account to become live. Arbitrum ETH may be needed for gas unless the free random-NFT route subsidizes it.
The browser application then combines the Swiss IBAN, four balances, exchange, crypto top-up, P2P transfer, bank payout, and Mastercard controls. Experienced wallet users may appreciate signing in without a password. New users can struggle to distinguish an account NFT, cash token, ordinary crypto, fiat backing, card balance, and blockchain approval.
Direct Pay is helpful once configured because it makes matching-currency settlement predictable. The absence of a physical card or PIN means everyday in-person use depends on a compatible phone, wearable, and local digital-wallet support.
Independent Review Sample
Fiat24's Trustpilot profile currently has only eight reviews and a 2.2 score, with all visible ratings at one star. Trustpilot labels the profile unclaimed and says Fiat24 has no history of inviting reviews, so the sample is small and self-selected rather than representative of the full customer base.
The recurring negative themes are nevertheless consistent: slow or absent support, missing or delayed refunds and preauthorization releases, bank-transfer delays or unexpected intermediary charges, merchant declines, account-access problems, and scammers impersonating support in Telegram or Discord. Three reviews were posted in the most recent twelve months.
These anecdotes should not be turned into a claim that every refund fails or every account is unsafe. They do justify a cautious operating practice: keep a second payment method, avoid holding unnecessary uninsured balances, test the card with a modest purchase, and verify support channels before sharing account information.
Community Feedback
Older Reddit discussion is more positive about the architecture than about long-term card service. Users and developers liked the idea of a Swiss IBAN, wallet-held account credential, and crypto-to-card bridge on Arbitrum. One Tangem discussion correctly distinguished keeping long-term assets in cold storage from connecting a spending wallet to external applications.
Referral communities documented successful ARB bonuses and real card-spend requirements during 2024, but the posts were promotional and often overstated availability as worldwide. They are useful for product history, not current eligibility or rewards.
There is little independent high-volume operating data for the direct Mastercard. That lack of a large review base matters more during the current application pause. Existing users have clear official mechanics, but prospective users have limited evidence about onboarding recovery, support resolution times, and refund performance at scale.
Support Model
Fiat24's developer guide tells wallet partners to embed its Telegram support bot, and the consumer terms also point to the web application or homepage. This centralizes account, token, bank-transfer, and card support with the actual issuer instead of a conventional bank branch or telephone center.
The model can be efficient for simple questions but creates phishing risk. Reviewers report scammers approaching users in public support channels and allege that moderation or official replies were insufficient. A user should initiate contact from the official application, never from an unsolicited direct message.
Complex cases need a written evidence trail. For a missing refund or payout, retain case numbers, transaction hashes, merchant records, dates, amounts, currencies, and screenshots. Do not post identity documents or account details in a public group.
Best Suited For
Arbitrum Wallet Users
Fiat24 is most distinctive for users already comfortable with Arbitrum, wallet signatures, token approvals, and browser applications. The account NFT provides a reusable onchain credential, and the cash-token balances can interact with compatible wallet interfaces without surrendering the user's private key to the website.
Multi-Currency Cardholders
Someone who regularly holds and spends EUR, USD, CHF, or CNH can benefit from Direct Pay. Funding the expected purchase currency makes the debit path easier to understand and can avoid a fallback card conversion. The earlier top-up and exchange price still needs review.
Transactional Swiss IBAN Users
The Swiss IBAN, free successful EUR and CHF transfers, internal cash-token payments, and virtual Mastercard can form a useful bridge between bank and crypto rails. The uninsured balance and transfer restrictions make it more suitable for working payment funds than savings.
High-Volume Specialist Users
Premium or Ultimate may suit a customer who genuinely needs higher card and account limits or permitted third-party deposits. The irreversible F24 burn is substantial, especially at the current ETH-denominated quote, so the upgrade should be justified by actual operating needs rather than status or speculative token marketing.
Top-Up Methods
- Deposit EUR or CHF by bank transfer to the personal Swiss IBAN; successful deposits are free and normally credit within one or two business days
- Convert official USDC on Arbitrum, or another supported input routed through USDC, into EUR24, USD24, CHF24, or CNH24; the fee is 1% Standard, 0.5% Premium, or 0.25% Ultimate
- Fund from another eligible Fiat24 account through an onchain cash-token transfer, subject to account status and rolling limits
- Maintain the intended purchase currency for Direct Pay; otherwise Fiat24 converts the transaction into the selected default balance without splitting across currencies
Self-Custody Hybrid Custody
- The user controls the private key to the Arbitrum wallet holding the Fiat24 account NFT and EUR24, USD24, CHF24, and CNH24 cash tokens
- The account NFT signs access and supported token transfers can be made through compatible wallet interfaces rather than only through Fiat24's website
- SR Saphirstein holds or safeguards the underlying fiat, administers the cash tokens, assigns account status, authorizes the Mastercard, and controls bank payout
- Fiat24 can soft-block or hard-block the account and can restore access after identity verification, so wallet-key control is meaningful but not exclusive
Pros and Cons
| Pros | Cons |
|---|---|
| ✅ Personal Swiss IBAN plus EUR, USD, CHF, and CNH balances | ❌ New applications are paused during Fiat24's current maintenance mode |
| ✅ Matching-currency Direct Pay can reduce unnecessary card conversion | ❌ No Swiss deposit insurance or bankruptcy privilege for customer balances |
| ✅ Wallet key controls the account NFT and onchain cash tokens | ❌ Fiat24 still controls underlying funds, freezes, recovery, redemption, and card authorization |
| ✅ Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and other digital-wallet support | ❌ Virtual-only card with no PIN, physical backup, or practical ATM access |
| ✅ Free successful EUR and CHF bank deposits and payouts under current documentation | ❌ Rejected or returned transfers cost 10 EUR or CHF, and third-party bank charges can apply |
| ✅ Premium and Ultimate provide much higher published limits and lower top-up fees | ❌ Higher levels burn 1,500 or 15,000 F24 and provide no recurring purchase cashback |
| ✅ Public smart-contract addresses and onchain account status improve transparency | ❌ Wallet approvals, phishing, smart-contract, bridge, hot-wallet, and support-channel risks remain |
| ✅ Direct issuer is listed by FINMA under a Swiss Article 1b fintech license | ❌ The license is not a full banking license and does not guarantee refunds or uninterrupted access |
Conclusion
Fiat24 Card is one of the clearest examples of a regulated payment account built around an onchain credential. A user-controlled Arbitrum wallet holds the account NFT and tokenized cash balances, while SR Saphirstein supplies the Swiss IBAN, fiat backing, Mastercard, compliance, and bank rails. Direct Pay across EUR24, USD24, CHF24, and CNH24 gives the design a practical multi-currency purpose beyond crypto branding.
The custody boundary is also clear once the layers are separated. The wallet key controls access and token transfers, but Fiat24 can block the account, control token eligibility, authorize or decline the card, recover access, and decide the bank exit. The balance is hybrid custody and uninsured, so it is better used as a controlled spending balance than as a place to keep long-term savings.
Standard is the sensible level for most users because a random eight-digit account NFT can be free. Premium and Ultimate are real card levels, not regional labels, but their lower top-up fees and higher limits require irreversible burns of 1,500 or 15,000 F24. They offer no recurring card cashback. With direct onboarding currently paused and independent feedback repeatedly raising support and refund concerns, prospective users should wait for the official application to reopen and verify the live fee, country, and recovery terms before committing funds or buying F24.
