Key Features

  • WebBank-issued Mastercard World Elite credit card for U.S. consumers
  • Earn a selected cryptocurrency on qualifying U.S.-dollar purchases
  • Standard rewards: 4% on the first $300 of eligible monthly transport spending, 3% dining, 2% groceries and 1% elsewhere
  • Choose bitcoin or 50+ supported crypto reward assets and change the selection for future purchases
  • Consumer, themed consumer editions and a separate business card use the same core rewards programme

Main Advantages

  • No staking requirement; optional SOL auto-staking is separate from card eligibility

Notable Limitations

  • Available only in all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, subject to WebBank credit approval
  • The 4% category is capped at only $300 of combined eligible spending each calendar month
  • Consumer purchase APR ranges from 16.49% to 34.49% variable, so interest can outweigh rewards
  • Rewards are custodial assets in a Gemini account; this is not a card for spending crypto
  • The previous consumer and business welcome bonuses are paused for applications approved after January 31, 2026

Basic Information

The Gemini Credit Card is a conventional revolving credit card that pays rewards in cryptocurrency. Purchases are billed in U.S. dollars through a credit line issued by WebBank; crypto in a Gemini account is not used to fund transactions.

Specification Current details
Product Gemini Mastercard Credit Card
Issuer / servicer WebBank / Gemini Constellation
Network Mastercard World Elite
Card type U.S.-dollar consumer credit card
Annual fee $0
Foreign transaction fee $0
Availability All 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico
Approval Subject to Gemini identity verification and WebBank credit approval; no guaranteed minimum credit score is published
Reward custody Custodial Gemini Digital Asset Account

This distinction matters when comparing Gemini with crypto debit cards. Gemini does not sell crypto at checkout or draw from a stablecoin balance. It extends dollar credit, then converts the dollar value of an earned reward into the cardholder's selected crypto.

Rewards and Benefits

Standard reward rates

Purchase category Crypto reward Important condition
Gas at the pump, EV charging, transit, taxis and rideshare 4% First $300 of combined eligible spend per calendar month; then 1%
Dining 3% Merchant must use an eligible dining category code
Groceries 2% Traditional grocery categories; warehouse clubs and many general retailers are excluded
Other qualifying purchases 1% Baseline rate

The 4% category can generate at most $12 of rewards at the headline rate each month. Once combined eligible transport spending exceeds $300, additional purchases in that category earn 1% until the limit resets on the first day of the next calendar month.

Rewards depend on the merchant category code supplied through the Mastercard payment system—not on what the customer believes was purchased. For example, fuel paid inside a convenience store may not code as gas at the pump, and food bought at a warehouse club may not code as groceries.

Vault Rewards and merchant offers

Gemini advertises Vault Rewards of up to 10% at selected merchants. These are rotating promotions rather than the card's baseline reward schedule. Each merchant may have its own cap, eligible transaction rules and end date, and the current offers are shown in the Gemini Card interface. They should not be valued as permanent card benefits.

How rewards are delivered

Most qualifying purchases receive an “instant” reward when Gemini receives the authorization. Transactions that commonly begin with a temporary authorization—such as hotels, car rentals, gas stations and some online grocery orders—receive the reward after the final amount clears, usually within 24–72 hours.

Gemini first calculates the reward in U.S. dollars, rounded to the nearest cent, then converts that value into the selected crypto at the market price when the reward is triggered. Changing the selected asset affects future transactions; it does not convert rewards already earned.

Returns, credits and successful disputes can reverse rewards. If future rewards do not offset an outstanding adjustment, Gemini's programme terms allow a dollar-denominated Rewards Charge to appear on the card account. The terms state that interest is not charged on that Rewards Charge, although it still becomes part of the amount due.

Transactions that do not earn rewards

The rewards terms exclude:

  • ATM and cash-advance transactions
  • Balance transfers and convenience checks
  • Card fees and interest
  • Gift cards, prepaid cards, travellers' cheques and other cash equivalents
  • Precious metals, casino chips, lottery tickets and gaming-related transactions
  • Cryptocurrency purchases
  • Payments toward the Gemini card balance
  • Illegal, fraudulent or unauthorized transactions
  • Purchases made while the card account is not in good standing

The Gemini Card cannot be used to purchase crypto on Gemini or another crypto exchange.

Welcome and referral promotions

Gemini's former $200 consumer offer and $500 business offer applied only to accounts approved by January 31, 2026. Applications approved after that cutoff are not eligible, so those bonuses are historical—not current signup benefits. Referral campaigns and merchant promotions may still exist under separate live terms and should be checked at the time of application.

Fees, Interest and Limits

Consumer card pricing

The April 1, 2026 consumer card agreement publishes the following terms:

Cost Consumer term
Annual fee $0
Foreign transaction fee $0
Purchase APR 16.49%–34.49% variable
Cash-advance APR 29.49% variable; interest begins on the transaction date
Penalty APR 33.49% variable, subject to the contractual maximum
Cash-advance fee Greater of $10 or 3% of the advance
Late payment fee Up to $35
Returned payment fee Up to $35
Replacement card One free replacement in a 12-month period; then $50 each

Purchases can avoid interest when the full statement balance is paid by the due date under the agreement's grace-period rules. Cash advances have no comparable grace period. The consumer cash-advance line is limited to 10% of the account's credit limit and no more than $1,000 per day.

There is no public fixed purchase limit. WebBank assigns an individual credit limit after underwriting, and the available amount can initially be restricted until the physical card is activated and used.

Business card pricing

The separate March 3, 2026 business agreement applies only to bona fide business or commercial use.

Cost Business term
Annual fee $0
Foreign transaction fee $0
Purchase APR 18.49%–34.49% variable
Cash-advance APR 29.49% variable
Penalty APR 33.49% variable
Cash-advance fee Greater of $10 or 3%
Late payment fee Up to $25
Returned payment fee Up to $35
Replacement card One free replacement in a 12-month period; then $50 each

The business and any guarantor can be jointly responsible for the balance. The card cannot be used for personal, family or household purchases, to fund a Gemini account or wallet, or to buy cryptocurrency.

Crypto account costs

Gemini does not charge an exchange fee merely to acquire the card reward. Later selling, trading or withdrawing the rewarded asset is a separate Gemini account action and may incur the platform's then-current trading or network fees. Those later costs are separate from the card's annual fee and foreign-transaction fee.

Card Editions and Business Card

Gemini's consumer designs are editions of the same card, not reward tiers. They share the standard reward schedule, fees and eligibility rules, and users can change the reward asset regardless of the design.

Edition What changes What does not change
Classic / Bitcoin Classic metal finishes; bitcoin is the fallback/default presentation Fees, eligibility and selectable reward assets
XRP Edition XRP-themed metal design and XRP-oriented marketing Cardholder can still choose bitcoin or another supported asset
Solana Edition Solana design; SOL rewards can optionally be auto-staked Staking is optional and is not required for card approval or reward rates
Zcash Edition Zcash-themed design and ZEC-oriented marketing Same consumer-card economics as the other editions
Gemini Business Credit Card Separate business credit account and agreement Core crypto reward programme and selectable reward concept

The physical consumer card is metal and does not print the card number. A digital card is issued after approval for online purchases and mobile-wallet use. Up to five authorized users can be invited through Card Settings.

Optional automatic staking of SOL rewards changes what happens after SOL reaches the Gemini account. It does not turn the credit card into a staking card and should not be represented as a deposit requirement.

Reward Assets and Conversion

Gemini offers bitcoin and more than 50 supported crypto assets for card rewards. The exact list can change with Gemini's asset support. Bitcoin, ether, XRP, solana and dogecoin are examples; the cardholder is not permanently locked to the asset associated with a themed card edition.

All purchase balances and statements remain denominated in U.S. dollars. For each qualifying transaction, Gemini calculates a dollar reward and converts it into the selected asset at the market price when the reward is issued. The resulting asset is deposited into the cardholder's custodial Digital Asset Account.

Because the reward itself is volatile, its later dollar value can rise or fall. Gemini's marketing examples based on historical appreciation are not guaranteed returns and should not be used to compare fixed reward value.

Supported Countries and Restrictions

The consumer card is available to residents of all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. It is not available to applicants outside the United States.

Application Eligibility

Approval requires a Gemini account, identity verification and WebBank credit underwriting.

Gemini does not publish a guaranteed minimum credit score. A third-party estimate such as “670+” is therefore not a factual application requirement. The applicant's approved credit limit and APR depend on underwriting.

Business applicants need a qualifying business, an authorized signer and any guarantee required under the business agreement. Maintaining both the Gemini account and the WebBank card account in good standing is necessary to continue using the card and receiving rewards.

Custody, Compliance and Security

The card's reward wallet is custodial. Crypto rewards are deposited into a Gemini Digital Asset Account, and Gemini controls the account keys. Cardholders can later trade or withdraw supported assets subject to Gemini's account, compliance and withdrawal rules, but the card does not create a self-custodial wallet.

This is separate from Mastercard payment protection. The card provides Mastercard Zero Liability and identity-theft monitoring subject to the applicable benefit terms, and the app supports immediate card locking. The physical card omits visible account numbers.

Platform-wide digital-asset insurance must not be described as card-tier insurance. Any Gemini custody coverage has its own scope and exclusions and does not insure ordinary card purchases or guarantee the market value of rewards.

Full identity verification is required under Gemini's compliance programme. Card and reward access can be suspended if either the Gemini account or WebBank card account is closed, restricted or no longer in good standing.

Using and Managing the Card

After approval, the digital card can be used online and added to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay. The physical card is activated through Card Settings, where the cardholder can also establish a cash-advance PIN, view the credit line and manage authorized users.

Task How it works
Choose rewards Select “Change rewards”; future qualifying purchases use the new asset
View card details Access the number, expiry and security code after any required verification
Mobile wallets Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay are supported
Freeze the card Use Gemini Card Settings to lock or manage the account
Cash advance Set a PIN and use an ATM, subject to the fee, APR and limit
Pay the bill Repay the U.S.-dollar credit balance; rewards do not automatically pay it

The strongest practical feature is fast crypto reward delivery. The main usability trade-off is that the card remains dependent on two accounts: the WebBank credit account for spending and the Gemini account for reward custody and access.

Best Suited For

The Gemini Credit Card is best suited to:

  • U.S. residents who already use Gemini and want crypto instead of points or cash back
  • Cardholders who spend in the 4%, 3% and 2% categories and pay the statement in full
  • Users who value choosing among many crypto reward assets
  • People who want a no-annual-fee metal card and immediate digital access
  • Businesses that can comply with the separate business-use agreement
  • SOL users who understand that auto-staking is an optional post-reward feature

It is a poor fit for users outside the United States, anyone seeking self-custody, people who want to spend existing crypto, or borrowers likely to carry a high-APR balance.

Top-Up Methods

  • No prepaid balance or crypto top-up is required
  • Purchases use a U.S.-dollar revolving credit line issued by WebBank
  • Qualifying purchases generate the selected crypto reward
  • Rewards are deposited into the linked Gemini Digital Asset Account
  • The card cannot be used to buy crypto on Gemini or another crypto exchange

Self-Custody Custodial

  • Crypto rewards are deposited into a custodial Gemini Digital Asset Account
  • Gemini controls the account keys; the card does not provide a self-custody wallet
  • Cardholders can trade or withdraw supported rewards under Gemini account terms
  • Card access and reward access depend on the WebBank card account and Gemini account remaining in good standing
  • Optional SOL auto-staking adds separate protocol and unbonding risks

Pros and Cons

✅ Pros ❌ Cons
No annual or foreign transaction fee U.S. and Puerto Rico only
4% transport category, 3% dining and 2% groceries 4% rate applies to just $300 of combined monthly spending
Bitcoin or 50+ selectable reward assets Rewards remain in a custodial Gemini account
Most rewards arrive shortly after authorization Variable APR can reach 34.49% on consumer purchases
Metal card plus immediate digital card Cannot spend existing crypto or buy crypto with the card
Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay Merchant category coding can reduce the expected reward rate
No staking requirement Former signup bonuses are no longer open to new approvals

Verdict

Gemini offers a clear proposition: use a conventional U.S. credit card and receive crypto instead of points. The no-fee structure, selectable reward assets and rapid reward delivery are genuinely useful, while the themed editions add choice without changing the economics.

The headline 4% rate deserves context because it applies to only $300 of combined eligible transport spending each month. The more important long-term rates are often 3% dining, 2% groceries and 1% elsewhere. As with any rewards credit card, carrying a balance—especially near the top of Gemini's APR range—can erase the value earned.

For credit-qualified U.S. users who pay in full and are comfortable keeping rewards at Gemini, it is a competitive way to accumulate crypto from ordinary purchases. It is not a crypto-spending card, a self-custody product or an international option.
