XPlace Card Review: Fees, Cashback, Limits & Credit Mode

XPlace Card is a self-custodial Solana Visa card with Cash Mode for stablecoin spending and Credit Mode for borrowing against crypto. Cashback changes on 14 September 2026: Basic and newly purchased paid memberships receive 0% in Cash Mode and 0.5–2% in Credit Mode, while eligible paid memberships bought earlier temporarily keep the previous rates.

  • Type: Visa credit card with Cash and Credit spending modes
  • Key Feature: Borrow against crypto through Kamino without giving custody to XPlace
  • Availability: Check your country in the app; XPlace lists 34 excluded jurisdictions but no complete supported-country list
  • Standout Benefit: Earlier paid memberships can retain up to 4% Credit Mode cashback for up to 12 months from purchase
  • Biggest Downside: Cashback falls from 14 September for Basic and newly purchased paid memberships

News & updates

Silver members can now order an XPlace physical card in-app for $99, including courier delivery. Delivery is estimated at 3–12 days.

XPlace will cut cashback on September 14 for Basic and newly purchased paid memberships. Earlier paid memberships keep the old rates for up to 12 months from purchase.

Quick Summary: XPlace Card

Key Features

  • Self-custodial Solana Visa credit card with Cash Mode and Credit Mode
  • Cash Mode spends a funded USDC or USDT balance; Credit Mode borrows USDC against crypto collateral
  • Four plans from free Basic to $999/year Platinum
  • Cashback changes on 14 September 2026; paid memberships bought earlier temporarily keep their previous rates
  • Premium tiers add lounges, Fast Track and concierge benefits

Main Advantages

  • User retains control of wallet assets and XPlace says it cannot freeze, seize or move them
  • Collateral can continue earning variable Kamino yield while supporting Credit Mode
  • No separate credit-line origination fee and no early-repayment penalty
  • Instant virtual card after KYC with Apple Pay and Google Pay
  • Up to $750,000 monthly spend on Platinum

Notable Limitations

  • Credit Mode is a collateralized loan with 7.99–11.99% APY on confirmed paid plans and liquidation risk
  • Basic borrowing, FX, virtual-account, trading and per-transaction rates remain unconfirmed
  • Public pages conflict with newer app and email evidence on membership prices, cashback and Silver limits
  • XPlace publishes prohibited jurisdictions but no complete positive applicant-country list; 160+ countries describes Visa acceptance after issuance
  • Solana and Kamino dependencies add protocol, oracle and liquidity risk

Basic Information

XPlace combines a self-custodial Solana wallet, Kamino lending positions and a Visa credit card. The product can spend a stablecoin balance directly or create a USDC loan at purchase time, allowing users to avoid selling supported collateral when they choose Credit Mode.

Specification Current details
Card XPlace Card
Network Visa
Product type Credit card with Cash and Credit spending modes
Issuer Third National
Programme manager Signify Holdings
App operator Pontech Group L.L.C-FZ, Dubai
Blockchain Solana
DeFi protocol Kamino Finance
Wallet custody User-controlled / non-custodial
Mobile wallets Apple Pay and Google Pay

Pontech describes XPlace as a technology company rather than a bank, licensed lender or investment firm. Third National issues the card, Signify manages the card programme, regulated partners handle fiat services, and Kamino smart contracts provide the yield and borrowing layer. Those roles matter when evaluating custody, recourse and risk.

Card formats

Basic remains virtual. Silver users with an active membership can now order the plastic physical card in the app for $99, with courier delivery included and an estimated delivery time of 3–12 days. Delivery can be tracked in XPlace; activation and PIN setup happen after arrival.

The August 2026 app comparison also displays gold metal and platinum metal formats for Gold and Platinum, but the Silver launch notice does not establish that those physical cards can currently be ordered.

Virtual issuance is documented as available within minutes after KYC, with Apple Pay and Google Pay support.

Cash Mode and Credit Mode

Cash Mode

Cash Mode—called “Deposit Mode” in some XPlace documentation—spends a user-funded stablecoin balance. Current card copy names USDC, while the card-use guide also names USDT. Funds are deducted from the XPlace portfolio rather than creating a new collateral-backed loan.

Cash Mode is the simpler option for users who already hold stablecoins. It avoids Credit Mode interest and liquidation from the purchase, although card-program rules, network execution and any applicable plan fees still apply.

Credit Mode

Credit Mode uses supported crypto deposited into a Kamino-backed position. At purchase time, the card draws from a USDC credit balance backed by the user's collateral. The user can repay partly or fully, and XPlace advertises no separate setup/origination fee or early-repayment penalty.

Credit Mode element Treatment
Borrowed / settlement asset USDC
Collateral examples BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT and JitoSOL
Borrowing rate Plan-specific APY; confirmed paid tiers range from 7.99% to 11.99%
Repayment Partial or full repayment through the app
Early repayment No penalty advertised
Credit check Not required for collateral-backed borrowing
Main risks Interest, collateral volatility, liquidation, smart-contract and liquidity risk

The available credit is not the same as the card's monthly plan limit. Borrowing power depends on the deposited assets, their current value, asset-specific loan-to-value settings and outstanding debt. A user can therefore have a high plan limit but insufficient Credit Mode capacity.

Plans, Cashback and Benefits

Plans and rates through 13 September 2026

The following plan economics come from the first-party XPlace app comparison observed in August 2026. These cashback rates remain available through 13 September. XPlace announced by service email that different rates will apply from 14 September; its public website and docs still displayed the earlier rates on 24 August 2026.

Feature Basic Silver Gold Platinum
Annual fee $0 $99 $249 $999
Cash Mode cashback 0.5% 1% 1.5% 2%
Credit Mode cashback 1% 2% 3% 4%

Card format Virtual confirmed Plastic and virtual Gold metal and virtual Platinum metal and virtual

*The $2,000 Basic monthly limit is supported by the existing record and live homepage, not by the supplied in-app screenshots. Unknown Basic values remain unset rather than inferred from another plan or an older public table.

How cashback works

Cashback is described as real USDC paid to the user's wallet. Rates depend on the spending mode, membership tier and—after the transition—when a paid membership was purchased.

From 14 September 2026, these rates apply to Basic and to Silver, Gold and Platinum memberships purchased on or after that date:

Plan Cash Mode Credit Mode
Basic 0% 0.5%
Silver 0% 1%
Gold 0% 1.5%
Platinum 0% 2%

Silver, Gold and Platinum memberships purchased before 14 September keep the earlier rates shown above for up to 12 months from their purchase date. This is not a permanent legacy rate or 12 months from the change date: an older membership keeps only the remainder of its first 12-month period. Basic is not included in that protection. XP is a separate reward stream.

Category rewards and welcome offers

XPlace has advertised additional merchant-category rewards and welcome offers on paid plans:

Plan Additional published or observed benefit
Silver 3% on rides; $50 welcome cashback after stated collateral and Credit Mode spend conditions
Gold 5% on AI and rides; no confirmed welcome amount in the supplied evidence
Platinum 10% on AI and airlines, 5% on rides; $500 welcome cashback after stated conditions

Category rewards are merchant-specific and should not be treated as unrestricted base cashback. Welcome offers also require their live eligibility, collateral and spend conditions; they are not requirements for merely obtaining the plan.

XP and referrals

XP is a loyalty metric earned through card use and other XPlace activity. The August app comparison shows 1%, 3%, 6% and 10% by plan. XPlace says XP can influence programme rewards or future token-related benefits, but future token value or allocation should not be treated as guaranteed cashback.

XPlace has a referral programme, but the reviewed evidence does not confirm a fixed current signup reward or tier-by-tier referral payout. No amount is presented here rather than carrying forward an unsupported rate.

Travel and service benefits

Benefit Basic Silver Gold Platinum

Concierge Standard Personal VIP Priority
Airport lounges 1 free visit/year 4 free visits/year Unlimited access to 1,300+ lounges
Fast Track 2 free passes/year 5 free passes/year
Lifestyle access Selected offers Bespoke travel, restaurants and private events

The comparison table shows unavailable features so readers can see what changes between tiers. These are limitations, not benefits.

Fees and Limits

Plan fees

Cost Basic Silver Gold Platinum
Annual membership $0 $99 $249 $999
Physical card Not announced $99; courier included Not confirmed Not confirmed
FX Not confirmed 0.5% 0.25% 0%
Credit Mode APY Not confirmed 11.99% 9.99% 7.99%
Virtual account Not confirmed 1.5% 1% 0.5%
Trading Not confirmed 0.9% 0.7% 0.5%
Credit setup/origination $0 $0 $0 $0
Early repayment $0 $0 $0 $0

“Not confirmed” is intentional. It means the value was not visible in the supplied app comparison and should not be filled from a paid tier, an old public plan or a generic card agreement.

The October 2025 international card terms also describe programme-level penalty fees, including late payment up to $40 and returned payment up to $29. Those terms can apply at the card-programme level but do not replace the app's plan-specific membership, FX, borrowing, account or trading rates.

Card limits

Plan Monthly card limit Per transaction
Basic $2,000 Not confirmed
Silver $10,000 $3,000
Gold $200,000 $10,000
Platinum $750,000 $25,000

Per-transaction limits are not daily limits. XPlace publishes the former but does not currently publish confirmed ATM fees, ATM limits, replacement-card fees or general daily limits.

The live public homepage shows a $20,000 Silver monthly limit, while the August 2026 app shows $10,000. Treat the more recent in-app $10,000 amount as current, but confirm the live account limit because XPlace has not aligned the two sources.

Supported Assets, Yield and Conversion

XPlace's current homepage highlights five yield-bearing or collateral assets, while USDC is the primary spending and credit asset.

Asset Displayed yield APY Displayed LTV
SOL 6.15% 65%
USDT 3.26% 80%
ETH 1.59% 70%
BTC 5.43% 65%
JitoSOL 4.87% 65%
USDC Spending / credit balance Product-specific

These yield rates are variable snapshots, not guaranteed returns. Withdrawals can depend on protocol liquidity, and using an asset as collateral exposes it to liquidation if the position becomes undercollateralized.

Flow What happens
Cash Mode Spend funded USDC or USDT from the portfolio
Credit Mode Borrow USDC against supported Kamino collateral at purchase time
Repayment Repay the USDC credit balance partly or fully
Yield Collateral may remain in a variable-yield Kamino position
Card settlement Visa transaction settles through the issuer and programme partners

XPlace is currently Solana-focused. Marketing references to BTC and ETH describe representations or supported assets within the Solana/Kamino architecture; they do not make the card natively multichain.

Country Availability and Restrictions

Application availability

XPlace publishes a prohibited-jurisdiction list, not a complete positive list of countries where every resident can successfully obtain a card. Prospective users should check the in-app application flow for their country before choosing a paid plan.

XPlace accounts are explicitly unavailable in:

Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Central African Republic, Croatia, Cuba, Cyprus, Eritrea, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kosovo, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya, Moldova, Montenegro, North Korea, North Macedonia, Pakistan, Republic of the Congo, Russia, Serbia, Somalia, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Vietnam, Yemen and Zimbabwe.

This negative list does not prove that every unlisted country is currently onboardable. Visa acceptance and absence from the prohibition page do not establish application eligibility.

Merchant acceptance

Once a card has been issued, XPlace advertises Visa acceptance in more than 160 countries. That is merchant-use coverage—not evidence that residents of all 160 countries can apply.

Custody, Compliance and Risk

Custody model

XPlace says it does not hold private keys and cannot freeze, seize or move wallet funds. Cash Mode uses a funded user balance; Credit Mode places collateral into Kamino smart contracts and creates USDC debt. The crypto wallet is self-custodial, while card settlement still depends on issuer and programme partners.

Self-custody is not the same as unrestricted control over pledged collateral. Smart contracts can liquidate a position according to their rules, and withdrawals can be constrained by protocol liquidity or account obligations.

Entity Role
Pontech Group L.L.C-FZ XPlace app operator in Dubai's Meydan Free Zone
Third National Visa card issuer
Signify Holdings Card programme manager
Kamino Finance Yield and collateral-backed borrowing protocol
Regulated partners Fiat and payment services where applicable

XPlace is not a bank, and onchain wallet balances are not conventional insured bank deposits. Card protections, issuer obligations and DeFi protocol risks arise from different agreements.

Credit Mode risks

  • Borrow APY accrues even if collateral also earns yield
  • Yield can fall while borrowing cost remains due
  • Collateral prices can fall and trigger liquidation
  • Oracle, bridge, Solana, smart-contract and protocol-liquidity failures can affect the position
  • Card limits do not guarantee equal borrowing power
  • Account or issuer restrictions can interrupt card use even when onchain funds still exist

The relevant comparison is net economics: after borrowing interest, membership cost, FX and any platform fees, not just headline cashback plus displayed yield.

Using the XPlace App

The documented onboarding flow is:

  1. Create an XPlace account and self-custodial wallet.
  2. Choose Basic, Silver, Gold or Platinum.
  3. Complete KYC.
  4. Set the card PIN and activate the virtual card.
  5. Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay.
  6. Fund Cash Mode or deposit supported collateral for Credit Mode.
App control Purpose
Mode switch Move between funded stablecoin spending and Credit Mode
Card freeze Temporarily freeze or unfreeze the card
Permanent block Disable a lost or compromised card
PIN management Set or update the card PIN
Transaction history Review mode, amount, merchant and date
Savings Hub Monitor collateral, yield and liquidity
Credit Hub View borrowing power, debt and repayment

XPlace says sensitive card details are encrypted and tokenized by the issuing network. Users still need to secure the self-custodial wallet and device credentials independently.

Best Suited For

XPlace is best suited to:

  • Solana users who understand Kamino positions and liquidation
  • Crypto holders who want a choice between stablecoin spending and borrowing without selling collateral
  • Users who can exploit paid-plan cashback, limits or travel benefits enough to justify the annual fee
  • High spenders who need Gold or Platinum limits and understand that limits are not guaranteed credit power
  • Users comfortable relying on app evidence where the public documentation is stale

It is a weak fit for people who need a fully documented Basic fee schedule, guaranteed physical-card delivery, broad positively confirmed country issuance, unsecured credit or a non-DeFi card.

Top-Up Methods

  • Cash Mode: Fund a stablecoin balance; current card copy names USDC and older instructions also name USDT
  • Credit Mode: Deposit BTC, ETH, SOL, USDT or JitoSOL into a Kamino-backed position
  • Credit opens in USDC against asset-specific collateral value
  • No separate credit-line setup or origination fee
  • Solana network costs and DeFi risks still apply

Self-Custody True Self-Custody

  • User controls the Solana wallet and private keys
  • Cash Mode spends a user-funded stablecoin balance
  • Credit Mode places collateral in Kamino smart contracts and borrows USDC
  • XPlace states it cannot freeze, seize or move wallet assets
  • User bears passkey, smart-contract, liquidity and liquidation risk

Pros and Cons

✅ Pros ❌ Cons
True self-custodial wallet design Credit Mode interest and liquidation risk
Cash Mode or Credit Mode Public documentation conflicts with current app data
Grandfathered paid memberships temporarily retain up to 2% Cash Mode and 4% Credit Mode cashback Cashback drops on 14 September for Basic and newly purchased paid memberships
Free Basic plan Solana and Kamino dependencies
Up to $750,000 monthly plan limit Positive country eligibility is not fully published
Strong premium travel benefits Paid plans cost $99–$999 per year

Verdict

XPlace is a sophisticated self-custodial card rather than a simple cashback product. Cash Mode offers direct stablecoin spending, while Credit Mode lets users preserve a collateral position and access USDC credit at the point of sale. The higher Credit Mode cashback can be attractive, but it comes with the cost and risk of borrowing.

The August 2026 app makes most paid-plan economics reasonably clear, but its cashback display predates the announced 14 September change. New applicants should use the lower post-change rates; eligible paid memberships bought earlier retain the previous rates only until 12 months after purchase. Basic still has important fee and limit blanks that should remain visible rather than filled with guesses.

For experienced Solana users who can use the premium limits and travel benefits, XPlace can be compelling. For everyone else, the main decision is whether self-custody and borrowing flexibility outweigh stale public documentation, plan fees and DeFi risk.
